Brief:

Submissions from visual artists are sought via open call for up to 6 x 4-week exhibitions, between March–November 2027.

Solo, 2-person, collaborative and group exhibitions will be considered, and we welcome projects/bodies of work that are completed, or in progress with clearly expressed outcomes, across all contemporary visual art forms.

This programme of self-directed projects will receive an artists fee/production budget, publicity, invigilation, photographic documentation and other supports. Artists are asked to include in their proposal an outreach aspect which considers different audiences/communities of interest, such as but not limited to: events, workshops, talks, performances, and accompanying texts.

Gallery visits by colleges and local schools can be arranged when suitable, and artists are encouraged and assisted in aspects such as inviting curators, and promoting their work.

What the artist gets:

Artist fee of €2000 for solo, and €3000 for 2-person/group exhibitions; a materials and installation budget of €600 per exhibition, and a €330 outreach budget totaling €2930 for solo exhibitions and €3930 for 2 person/group exhibitions

plus:

all associated gallery costs paid, rental, insurance, invigilation, printed and online ads, publicity and sponsored social media, curatorial support, professional photographic documentation and video documentation.

Applications are made through the application form. As part of this form, you will be asked to submit the following information:

Step 2 - Project Proposal PDF

For individuals:

1 page of text outlining your proposal, including proposed event/outreach aspect and targeted audiences; a brief biography (<250 words); a maximum of 10 images with examples of previous and proposed work; max 1 link to video/audio work; CV including any recent/forthcoming shows.

For 2-person or Groups:

1 page of text outlining your proposal including proposed event/outreach aspect including targeted audiences; group, curator, individual biographies (<250 words per person); maximum of 15 images with examples of previous and proposed work; max 2 links to video/audio work; CV of all artists/collaborators including any recent/forthcoming shows; and CV of curator/coordinator if applicable.

Image Requirements:
1 good quality image per page with descriptions (ie. what, where, when & why)
A maximum of 10 images for individual applications & 15 images for group shows.
Where possible, please include examples of both previous work and proposed work/exhibition plans.
Please label work as previous work or proposed work for clarity.
Please note if you send extra images/information they will be discounted.

If you have accessibility needs and a video or sound recording is preferred, please provide a (total maximum) 6-minute video or voice recording outlining;

1. your proposal
2. proposed event/outreach aspect (including targeted audiences)
3. your biography
4. descriptions of images provided (what, where, when, why) AND 4. a maximum of 10 images with examples of previous and proposed work
5. max 1 other link to video/audio work
6. CV including any recent/forthcoming shows (optional)

Eligibility criteria:

• Due to the self-directed nature of the exhibitions, artists must be from, working in, or living in Ireland. 

• We do not accept applications from those currently in undergraduate courses. 

• Applicants should not propose work that will be exhibited elsewhere in Dublin in 2027.

Selection Process

Projects are selected through a competitive open call process by Pallas Projects/Studios (PP/S) curator and directors. 

Artists will be notified and offered dates.
Dates requested may not always be available, and artists are asked to be flexible.
In the unlikely event that an artist cannot exhibit on the date offered, PP/S reserves the right not to proceed with the exhibition. 

The decision of PP/S is final in respect of submissions. 

Please don't use AI to assist with your application; if you do, you must declare all instances.

Due to the volume of applications, PP/S are unfortunately not able to provide feedback.
