Pauline Rowan
Pauline Rowan is principally a photographic artist with her practice also incorporate drawing, sculpture, video, collage and archival materials.
She received a distinction for her MFA in Photography from Ulster University in 2019. In 2022 Rowan has been selected by international jury and awarded New Irish Works IV - PhotoIreland and FUTURESPhotographyEurope. Recent exhibitions include In Our Image at Photo Museum Ireland and The Library Project, Dublin. Rowan is supported by The Arts |Council of Ireland.
Her practice often explores the relationships between cultural, ritualistic symbolism and individual perceptions of reality. Her focus begins rooted in place and personal experience transforming through investigations and often personal vulnerabilities she conjures a psychological space and offers a new potentiality. Utilizing photography, participation, performative and material construction she endeavours to communicate her practices queries. Projects often relate to ritual, nature, motherhood and conflicting experiences of belonging and home.
