Pat Curran
Pat Curran is a Dublin born painter he was an early school leaver who found his way back into
the formal education system in early middle age and graduated from NCAD with an MFA in
painting in 2014. The ideas that are of interest to him in his work consist of images of the city, of people growing up in the city, and their relationship to it. Reflections on his own sense of personal identity as he was growing up in Dolphins House, a Dublin city flats complex, have been re-evaluated through his developing studio practice, which consists of the fast-disappearing flats complexes in Dublin's inner cities. He has committed himself to documenting, and interpreting, the transformation in his community through his artwork.Through painting he has found a voice that is both deeply personal and grounded in a life experience that is of particular relevance to the wider conversation of social justice and artistic expression.
