Evelyn Broderick
Evelyn Broderick is a visual artist, maker, and ceoltóir. Her practice revolves around MAKING|THINKING, an open dialogue evolving through community interactions. She creates socially engaged structures that weave sculpture, printmaking, and sound, to question the role of making in social and collective contexts. As a traditional musician, her sculptural work reflects the performative, collective nature of Irish traditional music. Her recent project, The People’s Shed, acts as a space for skill-sharing, exploring how a community’s social fabric is discussed, honored, and fostered through collective making.
Evelyn holds a BA in Fine Art Painting from Limerick School of Art and Design, a Hdip in Art and Design Teaching from Crawford College of Art and Design, and an MA in Fine Art from Liverpool John Moores University. In Liverpool, she co-founded an artist and art education cooperative (Quad Collective CIC). She was an artist-in-residence at UCD’s Parity Studios, at the College of Social Science and Law, where her research was on skill sharing in collective spaces. Evelyn spent 18 months developing The People’s Shed as artist in residence at Studio 468 in Dublin 8 as part of Common Ground’s community based residency. Evelyn received the Fire Station Artists’ Studios inaugural residency award for socially engaged art practice.
