Not Abel—Private Commissions

Preview:
6–8pm, Monday 22nd March
Exhibition runs:
Tuesday 23rd March – Saturday 22nd May

Private Commissions is new work by artist group Not Abel focused on an interest in the re-evaluation and re-presentation of particular common or contemporary cultural references. Working with various media, their practice is concerned with the production of a situation, creating sites of convergence where original context can dissolve in the emergence of alternate readings.

Not Abel selected projects include:

Take Courage, London (2010); Triskel, Cork (2010); Galway Arts Centre (2009); URA, Istanbul (2008); The Black Mariah, Cork (2008)

Presented through collaboration with The Black Mariah. Founded in 2007, The Black Mariah is an artist led project and exhibition space. The main focus of the project is to cultivate new audiences for contemporary art in Cork, by facilitating and presenting innovative practices through collaborative exchange.

Preview featuring: Vindicatrix (London) performing a version of his recent LP ‘Die Alten Bösen Lieder’ (Mordant Music / 2009)
