PR#7 Closing Event—Gallery talk: Eimear Walshe, Van Abbemuseum Deviant Practice, 2017
Gallery talk: Eimear Walshe, Van Abbemuseum Deviant Practice, 2017
Eimear Walshe will give a talk on their research from the Van Abbemuseum’s Deviant Practices Research Programme 2016/2017, following a presentation for the Basic Space series, Basic Talks at the Hugh Lane Gallery earlier this year. The project is currently being developed into a publication featuring illustrations by Dearbhla Ní Fhaoilleacháin, which will function as a learning resource at the museum. Walshe looks at the history of queer separatism as a deviant impulse, and examines how this impacts the production of knowledge, the formation of communities, and the development of art practices. Walshe is artist and writer specialising in feminist epistemology and queer theory. Their work seeks to reconcile queer histories with personal or local narratives through fiction, biography, and academic work.
