High Heart presents new work by IADT Degree year Art students, gathered at a specific moment in time. Like all previous iterations of In the making, High Heart is oriented toward the future. The works in this exhibition have come to life in many different places – studios, bedrooms, laptops, back gardens, sheds and kitchens. These things (like their makers) are dispersed and separated in space. But in High Heart they cohere temporarily into a living entity animated by a shared curiosity about the world, and a commitment to the process of making art.
The exhibition includes works realised in a range of media, exploring themes such as new forms of intimacy in public and private space; tensions between fabricated and organic structures; traditions surrounding death and funerals; mechanisms for the control of nature; representations of the human body; and the constant demand for emotional labour in the customer service industry.

Biography:
Jesse Jones’ practice is multi-platform, working in film installation, performance and sculpture. Her recent work proposes a re-imagining of the relationship between the Law and the body through speculative feminism. Using a form of expanded cinema she explores magical counter-narratives to the State drawn from suppressed archetypes and myth. She represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale 2017 with the project " Tremble Tremble" who's title is inspired by the 1970s Italian wages for housework movement, during which women chanted “Tremate, tremate, le streghe sono tornate! (Tremble, tremble, the witches have returned!)”.
Recent solo exhibitions include a solo presentation at Guggenheim Bilbao and a five year commission for kunsthalle Gent. Up coming solo exhibitions include Samstag Gallery Adelaide in 2021. Her teaching practice is primarily based on Sherkin Island Cork where she works on the BA in visual arts program (BAVA)
