"My experience [of the Artist-Initiated Projects] has been fantastic. It was the start of me as an artist really. Since I have exhibited in the Kevin Kavanagh gallery in a group show and was shortlisted for the Zurich Portrait Prize in the National Gallery. Also, I'm currently being filmed as part of an RTE documentary. None of which would have happened without Pallas Projects or certainly not in the timeline in which it has. I was really impressed by how simple and accessible the application was. Most open calls aren't really that 'open' but this one is and I think it's vital to young artists here."
– Salvatore of Lucan, AIP participant 2018.
Minister's statement
"The Arts Council funded Pallas Projects Artist-Initiated Projects is an important scheme, particularly for artists with fledgeling careers.
The arts provide challenges at all levels, demonstrating the variety of interpretation and imagination that exists. It demonstrates many different palettes, subject matter and styles of work. It compels us, the audience, to slow down, to stop and to take time to appreciate, to consider and to reflect.
This wonderful scheme, led by artists for artists, will provide us with a stunning display of diverse talent through the summer and autumn until November. I am certain that it will provide a springboard for the careers of these exhibiting artists, inspire others and demonstrate just why the arts are intrinsic to the very fabric of life in our capital city."
– Josepha Madigan
Minister for Culture, Heritage & the Gaeltacht
The launch will take place at the opening of the exhibition: Liliane Puthod—How Long After Best Before.
