Afterlife – Festival De Los Muertos (Festival Of The Dead) is a cultural event and exhibition organised by Pallas Projects/Studios in collaboration with Mexican and Irish artists, friend collaborators, and the wider public. It features Julian Becerra, Peter Burns, Margaret Corcoran, Mark Cullen, Gabhainn Dunne, Stephen Dunne, David Eager Maher, Ana Lopez, Gabriela Leon, Karla Mayoleytte, Nevan Lahart, Gillian Lawler, Breda Lynch, Ronan McCall, Alan Phelan, Jim Ricks, Eimear Tynan and Gráinne Tynan, Kathy Tynan, amongst others. The event embraces traditional Mexican Dia De Los Muertos festivities while juxtaposing contemporary artistic perspectives with the central theme of Honouring Life and Celebrating the Dead.

Traditionally, Day of the Dead festivals have been celebrated by Mexicans for thousands of years by lighting candles to illuminate the way for beloved relatives who have passed away. The
ritual is a calling to these passed relatives who are invited to come and stay over night and celebrate by remembering what was once their life among the living. As it is often believed, the dead come back to life to celebrate this special day among the living and like the Irish, Mexicans love to congregate among friends and will conceive a party at any moment, and yes, even for and with the dead.

And so, think about someone that has passed, someone that you would like to honour and celebrate with during this event, and join us! You are officially invited to this exciting and unique cultural experience that marries life and death, Samhain, Halloween, Mexican Day of the Dead and All Saints Day in a fancy dress festival honouring life and celebrating those how have passed.
