Aya Ito

Description of my artistic practice

My work of painting and sculpture deals with pre-adolescence sexual desire. My motifs include zombie, ghost, butt hole, excret ion, and nudes. And I compose them disorderly without the traditional perspective.

First, I create small theatrical scenes (size of Barbie doll play) for painting. I use paper clay, ceramic, pieces of paper foam polystyrene, drawings, photography, and ready-made products to create dreams and nightmares of the adolescence. Then I take photographs from different angles, close and far. I pick up few and combine them for painting.
The second, when it is finished I bring back some of the materials for the “scenes” to exhibit them with the paintings.
