SAGA is the second instalment of three exhibitions bringing together the work of IADT BA Art Degree year students held in Pallas Projects, January-February 2019.

SAGA comes from the inherent drive to communicate a narrative that is used to visualize the inter generational societal challenges today.

Through themes of folklore, experience (both personal to the artist and aimed towards the viewer), fear, threat, beliefs and basic rights run strong in this exhibition. All of the pieces have been selected carefully with interchangeable connections and similarities aimed to create conversation between the works.

FLUX brings together the work of Degree year Art students in the first of three exhibitions in Pallas Projects in January-February 2019.

FLUX is an exploration of material and time from the poetic to the scientific.
The work often deploys an investigative methodology with an emotional connection to the artist. The backbone of the exhibition is personal experience guiding an analytical and technological enquiry. The artists approach the work as fluctuations between chance and carefully controlled experiment. The works involve an exploration of how space is viewed, experienced, created, and destroyed.

In the making presents a taste of the future. For three weeks across January and February 2019, Pallas Projects provides an exciting platform for emerging art practices, hosting three consecutive exhibitions of new work by degree year students from IADT’s BA in Art. Conceived as an experiment in learning through exhibition-making, the project has been developed with guidance from PP/S co-curator Gavin Murphy and assistance from post-graduate students on IADT’s MA in Art & Research Collaboration (ARC). Each exhibition will provide an early-stage glimpse into the ideas, materials and techniques currently being researched and tested by the BA students and a valuable opportunity for them to extend their practices beyond the IADT studios.

In the making is conceived in three instalments, titled FLUX, SAGA and HOST. A series of invited respondents—from Ormston House, VISUAL Carlow and IMMA—have been asked to engage with a specific instalment and will be in conversation with IADT students as part of the exhibition’s public programme.

The three exhibition openings will take place from 6pm to 8pm, on Thursdays 31 January, 7 February and 14 February 2019.

Each exhibition will also be open to the public on Fridays 12–6pm, and Saturdays 12–2pm. (Please note the earlier Saturday closing time).
