Eve Woods' practice is concerned with the deep structure of social phenomena. This practice is focused especially in relation to femality, anxiety (as a society) and the internet. Overarching themes of information; it’s perversion and uses in a hyper-connected world, animalism and ethics bleed through these overlapping spheres of interest. Important to these thought patterns and especially evident in the aesthetics of the work is the focus on ideas of myth, urban legend and pseudoscience.
A painter primarily she is interested in composition, repetition, pattern and punk (anti-) aesthetics. Her palette swings from brash contrasting strokes to subtle layering of glossiness at all scales. Alongside painting where she enjoys manipulating surface textures her practice naturally extends into collage, assemblage and installation works.
Woods views the world through a unique lens where questioning social norms (especially those closer to home) are at the root of her practice.
Biography
Eve Woods is a visual artist based in Dublin City. She received her MA in Visual Arts Practices from IADT in 2015. Since then she has exhibited solo exhibition Smile at Pallas Projects, April 2017 & been involved in group shows; F.Festival 2017, PP/S 20 Year Anniversary Benefit Auction 2016, Peachy Dublin 2015, Artists Among Us 2015, Group of Writing People Zine 2015, Temporary Sights, curated by Siobhan Mooney in MART Gallery, Rathmines 2014 & Beo, 2014 as curator.
Woods studied Fine Art specialising in painting at the Centre for Creative Arts & Media, Galway City (2012) where she was involved in several group shows & most recently received distinction in a BSc Digital Technology & Design from the Digital Skills Academy, Dublin. She has worked as a creative event designer, web designer and visual communications manager. She is a current studio member of Pallas Projects, previously; Blackpitts Studios & Moxie Studios.
